Mac OS X Yosemite (not compatible)

hej everione

I am using a macbook pro retina 2015 running mojave into a upgraded (Samsung evo 980 pro 1TB SSD) and i know that it does only support Mac OS High Sierra or later but then i installed the macbook pros 256GB SSD into my macbook air and there I was trying to install Yosemite but it is not recognizing it on safe mode (something i was able to do before switching ssds).

I also have a Mac Pro (late 2013) with an OWC - Aura N2 1TB running Mac OS Mojave and would love to downgrade it to Yosemite but this also supports only High Sierra or later.

Q: is there any alternative (1TB M.2 SSD) so that my usb bootable MacOS would recognize the internal drive?

If there is no data on the drive in question, you may be able to reformat the drive HFS Extended GUID. APFS is not supported by Sierra or earlier. It may not work though. Often the firmware is too new on the SSD itself.

An external USB hard drive typically is not restricted on older operating systems, as long as your Mac came with it.

You'll want to boot with command-option-shift-R and install on the external drive.
