Nikon Z9 Raw file support

After importing Z9 Nikon raw files into Photos, only thumbnails are visible. Full sized image viewing or editing not possible as screen turns black. Any method to rescue the images from MacBook (using macOS Ventura 13.3) since original images deleted from the camera storage ?

IT should work, though only with plain-vanilla raws:

Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura - Apple Support

Note that the Z9 has note 5:

5. Lossless RAW format only

You can use Nikon's raw processor, or Adobe PhotoShop elements has Adobe's RAW processor included.

There are any number of free raw processors, I have heard about RawTherapee:

I just updated to Ventura 13.3 tonight. And, I now I the same problem as you. My MAC only shows the NEF NIKON symbol now from my Z9 camera. 😩 No photo image. If I had shot in JPEG as well it would not have been an issue. But, now I can no longer see my NEF images unless I randomly open one in photoshop. You can use NIKON photo processing software but it’s very slow. Going forward I will now shoot in JPEG and RAW. :(

This is a big disappointment for sure.
