Hello!
I have bought a second-hand scanner and I need to make it work for scanning negatives, on my 10 year old Macbook. Both things work, but apparently Epson and Apple do not wish for old hardware to be useable any more, any one can help? Is there any software I can download that will make this combination work?

Consider the paid (free trial) VueScan Professional which supports this scanner without any Epson drivers.
I purchased VueScan Professional in 2010 for what was an abandoned Canon flatbad scanner at that time, and the current VueScan Professional still drives that scanner on my M2 Mac mini pro. I have never paid VueScan for an update in 13 years, and receive nothing in return for its recommendation here.

Some features may be disabled in the trial software. Contact Hamrick and ask them if you can scan film negatives with this scanner model and their current version of VueScan Professional. If you are on Mojave 10.14.6, you may need an older version of VueScan Professional. Again ask the vendor.
Exactly what isn’t working with the combination of Mac/Epson?
New drivers were made available by Epson late last year and appear to be compatible with you version of Mac OS.

Did Hamrick get back to you about the paid VueScan Professional supporting negative scanning in the 3490 for their VueScan version for macOS Mojave?
Thank you for your reply! I got a very specific link! It looks like it is not working for scanning film negatives, though, is that only me? or is it the software? I would buy it at a reasonable price if I knew it was going to work, but I am not sure...

Hi! I think the main problem is that I am trying to scan film negatives, I only can make it work for normal document scans.
