See picture... Why am I being asked this??? Is it a legitimate request??? Granted I'm already logged in but it still bothers me for these out of the blue requests related to iCloud???? Why???

Apple in recent versions has added an occasional request to confirm the device passcode. Much like how you have to occasionally enter the passcode to access a device normally accessed with Face ID or Touch ID, Apple now also occasionally requires the device passcode to access iCloud. Re-enter the passcode. Or not. If you don't, I'd expect to find iCloud becoming inaccessible.

But it makes no sense to just ask me, out of the blue, for my login password, over a year since I first deployed this computer and turned on iCloud only to use it in a very limited way... So now, a year later, without an explanation as to why it's being requested, I am asked to NOT enter my AppleID password but instead to enter the login password for my computer in order to activate iCloud...??? Offering such a request without explanation makes me have no way of knowing if macOS legitimately needs to again see my login password or if it's being requested for some nefarious reason???? Again, makes no sense to offer such a requisition without telling me why it is needed NOW!!!!

I've done that a number of times on different issues but you know better than me, I imagine, that Apple never responds to feedback requests so I still would have absolutely no idea if the request was truly valid... But again, thanks...

I've logged a chunk of feedback related to—for instance—Apple documentation, and changes were subsequently incorporated in Apple docs. So somebody is reading at least some of the feedback.
