Option 1: Sign Out of iCloud Completely
If you're signed into an Apple ID (even partially), iCloud may keep asking for full sign-in. To stop that:
Steps:
- Settings > [your name] at the top
- Scroll down and tap “Sign Out”
- Enter your Apple ID password to confirm
- Choose what data (e.g. contacts, notes) you want to keep on your device
- Complete sign out
Note: You need to be okay with using your iPhone without iCloud services at all, including:
- iMessage sync
- FaceTime across devices
- Find My iPhone
- iCloud backups
- App Store auto sign-in
Option 2: Turn Off All iCloud Services (If You Can’t Sign Out)
Sometimes iPhones require you to stay signed into an Apple ID (e.g. for App Store). In that case, turn off every iCloud function:
Steps:
- Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud
- Tap “Show All”
- Turn off everything: Photos, iCloud Drive, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Safari, etc.
- Go to iCloud Backup, turn that off too
- Go to iCloud Keychain, turn it off
Also check:
- Settings > [your name] > Media & Purchases > View Account
- Log out of Game Center if signed in (Settings > Game Center)
Option 3: Reset Apple ID Login Keychain Prompts
If you keep getting iCloud prompts due to keychain or background services:
- Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Keychain
- Turn off Keychain
- Restart your phone
Then:
- Go to Settings > Passwords
- Check if any accounts there have “Requires Sign-In” or similar alerts
- Delete any stored iCloud account credentials if you don’t intend to use them
Option 4: Don't Enter Apple ID at All (Factory Reset Only)
If you're truly going cloud-free:
- You can erase your iPhone and set it up without an Apple ID
- You'll lose:
- App Store access
- iMessage / FaceTime
- Apple Music, etc.
- But you won’t be bothered by iCloud prompts
