QuickTime Player latest version

My iMac is running QuickTime Player version 10.5 but the Apple website says the latest version is 7.6.4. Can anyone explain why these are different?

QuickTime Player is installed on current Mac models.

QuickTime is an app that is no longer supported ...

Eg: Available QuickTime Manuals are dated 2005 -2007 : Apple - Support - Manuals

QuickTime Player 7.6.6 for 10.6.3 and 10.7 is the last "old" 32-bit QuickTime Player that works up to macOS 10.14 Mojave.
