On my Apple watch Siri mistakes hand washing for asking a question.

When I wash my hands Apple Watch keeps mistaking the noise of water running for a question to Siri. I use Siri as well as the hand washing counter but never at the same time. How do I stop this from happening?

Hello Zebrarto,

To help us isolate this more, can you let us know if the Raise To Speak feature is enabled on your device? If so, do you experience the same behavior if that feature is turned off? That information will help us plan how to proceed.

Please check out this link, which explains how to manage that feature, and may help: Use Siri on your Apple Watch

Raise your wrist

With watchOS 5 and later and Apple Watch Series 3 or later, you don't need to say "Hey Siri" to get Siri's attention.

1. Raise your wrist to wake your Apple Watch.
2. Hold your watch near your mouth.
3. Say what you need.

Here's how to turn the Raise To Speak feature off or on:

1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
2. Tap Siri.
3. Turn Raise To Speak off or on.

Thanks!

Hi Matthew_J5,

I unfortunately have an update on the problem of my Apple Watch issue. It seems disabling the Raise to Speak option did not resolve the fault. It has started to happen again.

I’m not sure why it stopped briefly. Perhaps I was holding my hand differently to check if the watch was going to answer. It always still seemed to activate Siri (the little animation comes up) even if it does not respond to a “false” question.

So to reiterate, I had left the Raise to Speak turned off but it has continued to misinterpret the sound of running water or hand washing as me speaking to Siri.

thankyou
