Hello kraniet888,
The iMessage service is exclusive to Apple devices. If you're sending a message to someone that is not using an iPhone, then it will just send through your carriers normal SMS messaging service.
The iMessage service is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, and Apple Watch.
What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS?
