Did you perform a clean install of macOS by first erasing the drive, or did you just reinstall macOS over top of itself?

If you performed a clean install, did you test the laptop before installing any third party apps and before restoring/migrating from a backup? If not, then you may have brought the problem back.

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. If we knew the exact model, we may be able to provide other tips since various models have some unique issues or other options.

Try booting into Safe Mode.

Make sure to disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.
