How to program Siri Remote to power up/down non-cec compliant projector

I’d like to program my Apple TV remote model A2540 to power on and off my projector via IR. Is this possible? My projector does not support hdmi-cec. I’ve taught the remote to control my receiver’s volume via IR and I’d like to program it to blast another IR signal for power up and power down.

Thanks, David

I think the doc is out of date - I’m running TVOS 16.4 and there is no option “Turn on your TV with your remote” and no reference in any doc relating to a “long hold” of the power button.

”Control TVs and Receivers” is On, and refers to documentation that has no information about this specific use case. Just refers to CEC or how to program a universal remote.

thanks
