Every time i try to connect apple watch 3 to iPhone XS (ios 16.3), it says "unable to check for update: checking for a software update failed because you are not connected to the internet." Why is that? my wifi was connected and i tried over cellular data too. but it says the same thing each time.

FWIW a lot of people have had trouble updating a series 3 watch. With the limited memory in a series 3 watch, your best option may be to make an appointment at the Genius Bar in an Apple Store near you and let them look at it:
