Just got a new iPhone. My NYT’s app says it’s offline. I am connected to Wi-Fi. How do I fix this?

Connecting to Wifi is the first part and then getting connected to the Internet is the second
Check your WiFi Router / Modem for --> Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points ...
For your Internet connection.
However --> Connect iPhone to the Internet - Apple Support
No VPN.
Are you using a VPN connection?
I think the OP was not very clear with his issue. Anyway, mine (and I’m guessing his) is: I am connected to my home Wi-Fi and the internet. I can do new Google searches, get the latest online news, get email, etc.
However, the NYT app frequently (several times per day) tells me my device is offline (it says last uploaded about 20-60 minutes ago), and won’t load the latest articles. Closing the app sometimes helps, rebooting the phone sometimes helps, but for both of these, usually not. I use numerous and apps and websites - NYT is the only one that gives this problem.
