Hello rgg_rgg,

It sounds like you're having some issues syncing Contacts with your Mac. This link has a few great starting suggestions If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync. See if these help:

"Things to check first

  1. Check the system status of iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders for services outages or connection issues.
  2. If a reminder isn't showing up on some of your devices, make sure that your iPhone and iPad have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, or that your Mac has the latest version of macOS.
  3. Make sure that you're signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID on all of your devices. Then, check that you turned on Contacts, Calendars, and Reminders in your iCloud settings.
  4. Check that the date and time settings on your device are correct for your current location."

If you find the issue persists after covering those steps, you could also try booting your Mac into safe mode. This will prevent some items from launching on startup and runs a quick disk repair, so it's a good step to further narrow things down. Here's How to use safe mode on your Mac.

"How to use safe mode

Determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:

Apple silicon

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
  3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
  4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
  2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window."

Once you start up in safe mode, test to see how Contacts works. After testing, click Apple menu () > Restart to get back to normal and then either check out the link above for details on how to proceed based on the results, or let us know how it goes.

Cheers.
