Declining invites multiply

how can I delete or effectively decline an invite that keeps repopulating?

I sent a Teams invite to my personal email from my work email so I’d have the event on both calendars. When I accepted the event, it invited me many more times. When I declined the invite, it sent me more invites again. I deleted the event altogether in Teams, but this persists. If I try to decline the invite I get more invites. i have dozens of invites pending now, even after it’s been canceled by the organizer (me). I don’t want them in there, but since all they do is multiply, there seems to be no use responding to any of them; I’ll just get more!
