The minimum volume is too loud

Can the minimum volume (using side buttons)be made lower? It used to be possible to do anything in a shared space with the volume on the lowest setting (above mute), and be able to hear a game with sound effects while not disturbing others. Now you have to play without sound, just be rude and play with sounds audible to others, or be obligated to use headphones. Headphones are not always convenient or handy for short stints.

On a coffee break, waiting room or sitting next to your partner quietly.

It used to be possible, but either an iOS, iPhone model or other update has made this an annoying unnecessary issue. I’ve done all the updates, restarted checked settings etc.

Apple if you’re listening, just make one more stop (using side buttons) halfway between the current lowest volume and no volume. This is also true for alarms, the lowest is still too loud.

As I wrote this, I found a way to do it for playback volume but not alarms (the volume for alarms is set by the “Ringer” volume which is limited to preset levels), using the glitchy annoying volume gesture slider that appears (onscreen left side), when you press the side buttons. I have until this moment only had reason to want it off my phone… it appears and makes the phone volume go to zero just by locking the phone using the lock button. Now I’m torn and although I would do both differently, I see a way to lower the volume further. Through the problematic and inconvenient gesture volume slider. =0/
