I have had the MacBook Air M2 for a while and I haven't been able to connect my messages. I have the same Apple ID on both devices the problem I'm having is that I can only be reached at my email. On settings it says that I'm reachable at my email and phone number. But on iMessage settings I can only choose my email and I can't add my phone number.

On your Mac's Messages app > Settings > iMessage, does that phone number appear in the list below "You can be reached for messages at..."
It needs to be there, so if you just recently added that number to your Apple ID account page try restarting your Mac in the usual manner, and then check that list again.

I have completed the steps and successfully added my phone number but the issue I'm having now is that when I open messages on my MacBook it's empty and my phone messages aren't there.
