Authentication required - how and where do I authenticate?

IPad Pro. After updating to 16.4 I’m unable to open/delete files in the files app without this message … "Can't open file. You need to authenticate before accessing this item". I’ve tried restarting the device but no luck. I’m also signed into iCloud so that’s not the reason. Can anybody help with this, please?
