Mediaanalysisd does not terminate/reload on attempt to unmount e-gpu

My experience so for with Apple and E-gpu's has been mostly positive. Integration was seamless, it works well, and in theory, even un-mounting the e-gpu should be simple with a single click of an icon in the toolbar. The problem is that the un-mounting process does not work on account of mediaanalysisd. I have to completely shut down the system in order to safely detach the e-gpu.

Since Mediaanalysisd is making use of my GPU, it must re-load when the e-gpu is attached. It doesn't seem like it should be too difficult to do the opposite. Perhaps another option is prevent mediaanalysisd from using the e-gpu. I would be fine with either option. Has anyone managed to find a work-around or know if Apple plans to address this rather annoying bug?
