How to resize this container to use full capacatiy of volume?

It's a 2 TB drive, I made a 1.75tb and 250gb partition/container. Then deleted the 250gb container. I want the 1.75 Container to use the full drive capacity of 2TB again.

I have spent an hour on this, and I am so confused... Why won't disk utility let me do this easily?

Use the partition tab to expand the first container into the free space. Here are the instructions for partitioning a disk. See the last section on Enlarging a partition.

Hi Barney,

It won't let me do that, I had to go into the terminal to delete the partition. Disk Utility App had the minus greyed out. Im assuming due to this

"Enlarge a partition on a storage device

If

you have multiple partitions on a device and one of them is running out

of space, you may be able to enlarge it without losing any of the files

on it.

To enlarge a volume, you must delete the volume that comes

after it on the device, then move the end point of the volume you want

to enlarge into the freed space. You can’t enlarge the last volume on a

device."

So now that I managed to delete it manualy via terminal, there is the matter of combining all containers again, which disk utility won't let me do. I also tried in Recovery Mode.

I think it will need to be done via terminal, but I don't know what to type in for commands.

Here is some pictures to show what I am seeing in the disk utility app.

Maybe I can use the disk util commands in terminal to combine space. I mean I was already able to delete the partition or container using terminal commands, when guides said it wasn’t possible, or that option was greyed out in the app.

as you can see I was close, but couldn’t get the commands correct for entering what the size should be.

i have it filled with 1.6 TB so don’t want to erase and re fill it causing wear and tear on this expensive ssd!
