marking all mail as read doesn't clear the unread badges on MacBook Pro Ventura

apple mail won't mark all messages as read in vip folder.

There are no unread messages yet some vip accounts continue to display unread numbers in the list.

I've selected all messages and used 'mark as read' but it doesn't clear the 'unread amount badges' in some of the mail.

this is only occurring on my MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.3

thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Christos,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to clear the Mail app badge notification even though all emails are marked as read in the Mail app. To help isolate this, use safe mode to start up your Mac as it does the following things:

  • Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
  • Loads only required kernel extensions
  • Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
  • Disables user-installed fonts
  • Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Log in to your user account and test the issue while in safe mode and then restart normally and test the issue again.
