Voice recognition after latest update

My phone is no longer working very well with my Duolingo app. The voice recognition has become terrible. It looks like other people are having the same problem. Is Apple going to address what they have done to voice recognition I hope?

The microphone itself appears to be working correctly as I can make and receive calls without any issues. This lack of dictation functionality is significantly impacting my ability to use my new phone effectively.
