Problems with Imessage since switching phone carrier

I recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile, and got a new sim card for my phone (!0XR). Imessage is not working for some of my contacts since the switch. I've read articles online that say to check "Send and Recieve" in Settings-Messages, and also to turn off Imessage, restart my phone, and then turn on Imessage. I am unable to do either of these - in Send and Receive it says 2 email addresses with a > next to it, but I cannot open anything by pressing it. If I try to toggle Imessage button from on (green) to off - nothing happens! I am using IOS 16.3.1. Can anyone advise me on what to do next?

When I go to settings-Messages, I cannot turn off messages (it is a pale green but not a solid green, and unresponsive). I can receive messages from some Iphone contacts but they are green (non-Imessage); with other contacts we can't message at all (except through Whatsapp). The "Send and Receive" function in Settings---Messages is also not working.

Also in Settings, I am unable to open Facetime settings at all (although I seem to be able to send and receive Facetime calls/video)

And, in settings, when I try to open the item at the top with my Apple ID, etc., that won't open at all.

I'm thinking I may need to go to Apple Store for help, but if there are other things I can try at home, please let me know. Thank you.
