``keyboard not responding and cursor frozen
my keyboard stopped responding and cursor is frozen. I've tried rebooting in safe mode plus a few other suggestions offered via the internet but no success. I am using an external keyboard and mouse now.

What Mac model and year are you using?
What macOS version are you running?
Find that info by clicking the Apple menu () at the top-left of your screen and then select About This Mac.
Assuming it's wireless, have you changed or charged the battery of the keyboard and/or mouse?
Try resetting the NVRAM. The NVRAM is a special memory section on your Mac that stores data that persists even when the Mac is shut off, such as volume settings and screen resolution - it's the information the computer uses to maintain settings after a reboot. You may have to do this several times because sometimes that's what it takes to stick. Press and hold the keys at startup until you hear the Mac chime 3-4 times, then release.
