Cannot connect iPhone 14 to my iMac

My iPhone 14 will not connect to my iMac running Ventura 13.3. Looks like others have had the same problem. That eliminates using Airdrop. Is there a solution?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16

Bluetooth is required for Airdrop. Bluetooth Pairing is not and has never been required for Airdrop. The devices do not need to be paired. The devices will use Bluetooth to detect each other, and then use WiFi to transfer files. They do not need to be paired or be on the same WiFi network. Bluetooth and WiFi must both be enabled.

Bluetooth pairing between Macs, iPhones, or iPads has never been supported.

From the dozens of instructions I have read on-line, from Apple Support and others, a Bluetooth connection is required to use Airdrop (not Airplay). That aside, I cannot pair my iPhone with my iMac under any circumstances.

Thank you. I was unaware of the ability to transmit and receive in that manner. I'm sure that makes perfect sense to someone a lot more technically savvy than I am. Yet, I cannot get Airdrop to work, although in the past, it did.

I found the same problem today. Tried to move photos from my iPhone to my laptop, always used Airdrop, now I select Airdrop and 1)it does not identify my laptop by name as it used to, and 2) if I select it I see "no people found". This after upgrade to 13.3 Ventura

What exactly do you mean by "cannot connect?" Airdrop has never required the devices to be paired over Bluetooth.
