I recently switched to an iphone 14 plus and deleted an exchange mail account from the phone. Now I am unable to add it back and get the message "cannot create account, an identical exchange account already exists." How do I get this added?

Probably your Apple ID uses your exchange account.
Or
Remove the account profile: Go to Settings > General > Profiles and remove any Exchange account profiles that might be installed.
You may also try to Reset network settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will erase all saved Wi-Fi passwords and VPN settings, so make sure you have them handy.
My apple id is a different email. None of those worked either.
