My Apple TV is jittery when I fast forward and hard to stop where I want. Happens with the remote and when I use my phone as a remote. Anyone know how to fix?

If the jittery fast forwards and hard stops occur with both the versions of the remote, check your fast forward style and see if you may have the fast forward speed set too high, or if you may be scrubbing instead.

• To jump back or forward 10 seconds, rest your finger on the touch surface, then press left or right.
• To continually fast forward or backward, press and hold left or right on the clickpad ring. Note that you can adjust the speed to 2x, 3x, or 4x when you press the clicked ring repeatedly in the direction you want to move.
• To scrub through the thumbnails, pause the video and swipe in a circular motion (either left or right) to move forward or backward in time.

If you aren't scrubbing, it's likely isolated to either the Apple TV itself or the app you're using to watch.

Sometimes a simple restart will resolve many minor issues. Let's start there.

Restart your Apple TV

If your Apple TV isn't responding, restart it with your remote:

* With your Siri Remote (2nd generation or later) or Apple TV Remote (2nd generation or later)*: Hold down the Back  and TV/Control Center  buttons. Let go when the light on your device flashes.

* With your Siri Remote (1st generation) or Apple TV Remote (1st generation)*: Hold down the Menu and TV/Control Center  buttons. Let go when the light on your device flashes.

* With your Apple Remote (aluminum or white): Hold down the Menu and Down buttons. Let go when the light on your device flashes.
