Safari issues with iOS 16.4?

Hi there!

Is your access to Outlook.com affected by the 16.4 update?

For me, since I updated the iOS, I cannot handle my mail Outlook.com using Safari...

Sometimes I can see the new email, but cannot open it. Sometimes I cannot delete messages. I need to log in more than once to do a reading or deletion. Sometimes I can see just a blank page.

I decided to install Chrome and compare. No issues with the rival browser...

Definitely, something is happening between Safari 16.4 and Outlook.com...

Hey, I'm a web developer who maintains a forum and a handful of my users are describing something very similar since upgrading to Safari 16.4. They find themselves unexpectedly signed out often. It's happening to iOS and MacOS users, but only those on Safari 16.4 (or 16.4.1).

From what I can tell, Safari 16.4 is sometimes failing to send all cookies to my server. This causes my server to "correct" the user's session by signing them out. That sounds very similar to what you're experiencing. I've talked about it in this thread on the Apple Developer forums.

It feels to me like there's a bug.

Hi there jack-serres,

If a certain website is not loading as expected in Safari on your iPhone, recommendations outlined in this article can resolve what's happening: If Safari isn't loading websites or quits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are trying to view your email on your iPhone, you can also set up this account with the Mail app using these steps Add an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

1. Go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
iPhone showing how to set up email account automatically
2. Tap Add Account, then select your email provider.
3. Enter your email address and password.
4. If you see Next, tap Next and wait for Mail to verify your account.
5. If you see Save, tap Save.

Take care!

Hi @WHLParkstone,

More: I realized that it happens only when I access my personal email account (Outlook.com).

When accessing my corp account webmail, which is based also on Microsoft platform, I don't see the issue happening.

Frustrating... but I keep using Chrome for my personal account.

I hope one day they will realize something is broken and have it fixed with a new release.

@JacobTPM, thanks for your post.

Note that, in my case, it happens only with Outlook.com access, both tested in regular and private modes. And I'm not kicked out of the session, that apparently is kept 'alive'. Just tested many other accesses, also in both regular and private modes, and in all cases, there is always a positive response from Safari browser. As I mentioned, even when accessing my work mail, which uses the Microsoft mail platform, the issue is not observed...

But glad that you shared your feedback. Apple may need to look into this urgently. We don't know how many other servers out there are affected by this.

Cheers and peace.
