Typing Unicode characters that end with a zero

This thread was posted on February 4, 2022: Can't type unicode character codes ending… - Apple Community

Has anyone found a solution to the problem typing Unicode characters that end in zero? I just updated to Monterrey 12.6.4, and the problem remains.

One user in an affiliated thread suggest using old Mac keyboard shortcuts like `+a to get à. That's fine as far as it goes, but I need characters that are not covered under the old shortcuts, e.g. "Š" [unicode 0160]. It's a major pain to have to go into the Emojis & Symbols palette whenever I have to type the name "Šipka."

Thanks.

The accented character menu seems to work. Šipka.
