Setting up Mail : Can I limit the number of emails I import?
When using or setting up MAIL for first time, is there a way to limit or filter the number of emails to import from my Yahoo account which has 30,000 emails?

This article shows a list of settings that can be changed in the Mail app on a Mac: Change settings in Mail on Mac.
According to the article above, with iMAP accounts "messages are stored on a mail server until you delete them. When the email connects to the server, it's synced so that the messages on your Mac are the same as those on the server.
"With Pop accounts messages are stored on a mail server and are downloaded to your Mac when you access your account. The messages remain on the server until they're deleted from the server."
There isn't an option to limit the amount of emails that appears in the Mail app. If you would like to submit suggestions or feedback to Apple about this, you may do so here: Product Feedback.
