update labels greyed out in word mail merge

I'm using office 365 with a MacBook Pro, macOS Monterey, version 12.6.3

I'm trying to make labels using a mail merge, excel to word. I got my first label all set, but the Update Labels button is greyed out. What would cause that?

Problem with Avery Labels in Word on my Mac I downloaded some Avery templates to use in Word. The templates didn’t work as expected and now when I open up a new doc in Word, instead of a blank new document, it defaults to a template box with no way to delete or remove it from the new doc. Using pages for address labels I go to the Avery website, choose the template of 5160 and pages appears along with others , Word etc. I click on Pages and nothing happens. It has worked in the past but no results today
