Auto launch audio apps has stopped working after I updated to watchOS 9.4.
By the way, I think the watch should auto launch the Now Playing app and not the specific audio app.

After iOS 10 (Apple Watch) with iOS 17 (iPhone) Now Playing only shows me what is playing, but I can't control volume, pause or play. I use apps other than apple music and can no longer use my watch for these! Help!!
Only for a short period of time. Did it stop functioning again?
Still working after 24 hours. I’m running 9.4 on Watch and 16.5 on iPhone
Let us know in a week - most report this is only a temporary fix.
I need to restart my phone and watch every day in order to make it work again. Absolute PITA.
Two days in - looks like it’s working again. Finally. 16.5 fixed it.
Now instead of not popping out at all it does and works for some time until it get stuck on “Loading…”, great fix.
You can get the watch to display Now Playing if you turn off the audio app (Spotify, Apple Music) from your watch!
This wasn't the issue, and it has been resolved by the latest WatchOS in any case.
Then why I need to kill Music app every day on my watch in order to have it auto start and change volume properly?

Restarting my Apple Watch will fix the problem, but only temporarily. It eventually comes back.
This worked for me! Removed old Apple Watch, powered off watch and phone, and then turned them back on. Thank you for this suggestion!
