MacBook Air M1 - Squeaky spacebar

Hey guys

I bought my MacBook Air last year in October and since have noticed my spacebar making a squeaky sound when being pressed on the right side. The squeaky sound is not always happening when I start working on the MacBook but after about 1 hour of typing it starts. The sound is absolutely obnoxious and extremely annoying when typing. I also feel like my spacebar is a bit more loose than on other MacBook Airs (several friends and my girlfriend have one). Today I visited a certified Premium Reseller and told them about the issue. Unfortunately they didn’t want to help me and referred to the still functional spacebar and said that a repair won‘t be covered by Apple or the warranty. I payed A LOT of money for this MacBook (upgraded Ram) and I think it is NOT too much to ask for a flawlessly working (and sounding!) keyboard! None of the MacBook Airs of my friends and family have this issue. Anyone else had this issue and got it fixed? I am kind of disappointed at the moment…

I just had the same issue develop. 13" MacBook Air M1 2020, purchased in July but I didn't set it up or start using it until early September, so this started after only 2 months of use. It was driving me bonkers after only a couple of days of dealing with it! I don't bang on the keyboard or use it for inordinately long periods of time. I made an appointment at the Apple Store for today and they replaced the space bar, and so far the awful squeaking is gone.

This is a replacement for my 9-year-old 11" Air, which never had any issues at all. A relative just bought a 16" Pro and the screen cracked after only a few days; it wasn't dropped, wasn't mishandled in any way, it just was flawed from the beginning. Yeah, they fixed that too, but... Apple quality control is not what it used to be.
