2020 MacBook Pro with flashing touch bar and kernel panic crash when lid is closed

@dbinvt reported this same issue earlier this year with a 2019 MacBook Pro and I've seen it reported by many users. They talked about removing/disconnecting the touch bar because repair shop charged an exorbitant price out of warranty. Does "out of warranty" include AppleCare+? ie. Can I get my touchbar replaced under AppleCare?

Further, despite looking through many threads I have never seen someone report this issue solved. I have spoken with Apple support and they haven't been helpful; I have dozens of kernel panic reports - every time I send them to Apple.

Is there a solution as it is insanely aggravating that a laptop cannot be used as a laptop without crashing.

Perhaps should your MacBook Pro have coverage under an AppleCare plan (extended/Plus)

an Apple authorized service provider or an Apple store repair facility, could look into issues

& perform some diagnostic testings; further than you might do with the DIY self-test online.

Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support

Other than the crash report with possible hardware damages.. Other things to know are

if you happen to have installed some conflicting software, or bad news types of utilities

that might co-opt a nice Mac, then turn it sideways into a franken-mac..

Another thing; try and see what's going on in your Mac, if there are conflicts or

any other kind of dogpile of stuff. You could get totally free version EtreCheckPro

https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html Do Not buy Power User Package; it will do

most all you need from the downloaded free version. [Be sure to give EtreCheck

"Full Disk Access" before running, this part gathers technical, but not personal

details. Your data in never used in any report, and maker (John) is trustworthy.]

Be sure to look for and set EtreCheckPro to gather additional info from your Mac

into the report. The default won't do this; and that's more helpful to troubleshoot

with added info included in that report. Also part of the free version; from makers

site and nowhere else. ~ I've had and used this, on occasion, just to test my Macs

probably going on 12+ years now; and it has been improved, also for free.

Should you get and use this, on first run it may or not implement to deeper feature

to create in-depth report; if that part was downloaded but not ran, it can be later.

..The maker of this, also offers some support; look into his site pages for details.

Thanks for the response. I've run my Mac through EtreCheck a number of times and have the paid version. Apple online support has been no help and I havent' been able to give it up to a repair shop. I've reinstalled the OS and rebuilt the desktop and it happens without any third party apps.

The touch bar flashing started at around the same time so I'm assuming it's related to that. I have applecare+ so probably need to figure out how to live without it for a few days.

It's frustrating that no one who has reported the issue (and there seem to be a lot) has reported that they have been able to solve it.
