iMovie project components gone

i had been working on a 22 min video for about 12 hours. It then came up with this message saying my project was damaged. I hit repair, and it was working fine for about 5 minutes until it crashed. I opened it back up and all of the components in my video were gone. The videos are still in my library and my project is still there but everything I had edited is missing. Please help me. I am very upset by this and my heart rate is through the roof

Hi, lssel13,

Not to worry. You likely can recover your project from the iMovie Backups folder.

To get to the iMovie Backups folder, follow this file path from the Finder menu:

Go/Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.iMovieApp/Data/Library/Caches/iMovieBackups

When you get there you will see a list of previous backups of your iMovie library.  Click on one dated just before

your issue started.  iMovie will open in that library.   Navigate to your projects browser (where your projects are displayed as icons) and see if your projects are intact.

If for some reason the above procedure is unsuccessful, then you could recover your project from the Time Machine backup, if you keep one. You would restore your iMovie library to a point in time before the project corruption occurred.
