Yes or no pop-ups are simple two item menus (three item if you set the 'start with' option to 'none').
Check boxes have been available in all versions of Pages since Pages 08.
Not sure what you are describing as "initialing boxes," but I suspect they could be replaced by pop up menu cells.
Regarding the general question: Apple does not provide information regarding future feature features, nor does it provide a schedule for the release of those features.
These discussion communities are user to user communities for discussion of and problem solving involving the current versions of Apple software and hardware.
Apple's Product development teams and Apple Leadership do not participate in the conversations here, and are unlikely to see your question.
Apple does provide a means of requesting additional features in Pages—the Provide Pages Feedback menu item in the Pages menu (and similar 'Provide xxxx feedback' in the applicaion menu of most Apple
applications). Feature enhancement request sent via that path go directly to Apple. Those that are judged to have merit are forwarded to the appropriate audience.
Replies to suggestions are likely only when the recipients need more information than was included in the Feedback message.
It's recommended that you read Apple's Unsolicited ideas policy before sending suggestions. (Five short paragraphs).

Barry

The features you seek have been in MS Word and LibreOffice for decades. Pages original, and lasting design goal was to create an uncomplicated consumer application whose features are not based on any other word processing implementation, nor in competition with same.
The new features that you seek Apple to provide in Pages would depart from a consumer-focused application, and only the Pages product team knows what is in their product roadmap. As they do not participate in these user-supported communities, any future Pages product planning will remain Apple private.
It took the Pages product team nearly eight years to reimplement Mail merge into Pages, and if you are impatient for the changes you seek, I recommend that you use either of the applications mentioned in the first paragraph, or another suitable to your need.
