Hello Girgis11,

We understand you have some battery life concerns while your iPhone sits overnight. You mention you've closed apps and disabled Wi-Fi. First, we'd like to confirm you mean you force closed all the apps using these steps: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

There is a great article to help get the most out of your battery life. Check out the tips posted here: Batteries - Maximizing Performance - Apple

We'd also suggest checking the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging
    • Take note of your Maximum Capacity percentage
    • Take note of any alerts regarding your battery

2. At the Settings > Battery screen, look at the top most used apps

    • Take note of any listed showing background activity

3. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh

    • Disable any apps that might be using more than expected battery in the background

4. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to install any updates showing

Reply back with any additional questions or concerns.

Best regards.

There is never a time when your phone is doing nothing, even if there are no obvious apps running. The phone stays in communication with the cellular network, so it can find your phone when you get a call; lots of apps update (e.g., Weather, Stocks, News…) Any email or texts you receive during the night use energy, any notifications you receive launch apps to receive and process them. Usually the energy is less than 30%, but depending on how busy things are it can easily reach that.

The key point is you should be charging the phone overnight, every night. It’s the absolute best way to get maximum use on a charge, as well as slow the decline of battery capacity long term. Enable Optimized Battery Charging (Settings/Battery/Battery Health) and charge the device overnight, every night. The battery will fast charge to 80%, then pause. During the nighttime pause the phone will use mains power instead of battery power, allowing the battery to “rest”, and thus reducing the need to charge the battery quite as often. The phone will resume charging to reach 100% when you are ready to use your phone; it will “learn” your usage pattern. If you enable iCloud Backup (Settings/[your name]/iCloud - iCloud Backup) the phone will back up overnight also, assuring that you can never lose more than the current day’s updates.
