Why, in IOS16, does the video player just jump because you accidentally touched the screen? Can you stop this feature?

Why can't the development team leave things alone when they work? I now see with IOS16 someone decided it would be a great feature on the built in video playback engine that Apple TV uses, to advance, stop or rewind not ONLY when you use the playback scroll bar but just touching the screen will do this? Obviously who ever designed this feature hits play and then never, ever touches their iPad again. From a utility standpoint this feature is simply ridiculous. I can't tell you the number of times it has ruined a playback where I'm watching something and oh accidentally just touch the screen and boom... now I'm an hour ahead in my movie? Whattttttt???? This drives me nuts. Yes you can go back and hunt and peck your way to approximately where you were at but why? This is just plain dumb. Is there a way to disable this dumb feature?
