3TB Time Capsule Needs Repair

I'm using OS 12.6.3 on a 27inch iMac and have just discovered that it has not been backing up to my 3TB Time Capsule for some time. On doing a bit of investigation using Airport Utility in suggest that it needs repair.

On searching for a repair solution I'm informed that I should Open Airport Utility, click on the drive, go to edit, select disk and choose erase drive but I'm not given that option.

What am I missing, can anyone suggest a course of action?

Appreciate any help.

Unfortunately, the hard drive has failed, so it is not possible to erase the drive.

Apple does not offer replacement parts or repairs on a Time Capsule, but a local shop could probably replace the hard drive for you with another 3TB or even larger hard drive. Estimated cost would be in the $200-300 range for something like this.

However......if the Time Capsule is 6-7 years old or older, the internal power supply is also at the point where it can fail at any time. So, it would probably not make sense to replace the hard drive in this case......unless.....the power supply is also replaced. Add another $100 or so for that option.
