Problems with Screen after changing MacBook Pro Screen

Hi all,

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch from 2017, running Mac OS Monterey version 12.6.3. Recently my screen went all black but the laptop seemed to work so I plugged in the beamer and was happy to see everything was still normal. Apparently the cable between LCD screen and MacBook can get damaged over time due to opening and closing of the screen. So I decided to change the screen, but now I have all sort of problems.

The first screen I got had the following issues:

  • I couldn't adjust the bightness of the screen
  • When I opened firefox all characters would be dancing in front of my eyes: characters would disappear at random
  • Pictures in firefox were impossible to look at
  • In Safari only google maps showed strange black lines/areas when zooming in (see attached photo, this becomes worse when actually zooming in or moving the map)

The repair service decided to change the screen again. With the second screen I have the following issues:

  • Still firefox problems: characters disappearing, pictures all crazy. After googling I went to firefox preference->general->performance, unchecked the box 'hardware accelaration' and after that all looks normal in firefox....but this seems like a work around for me.
  • Brightness of my screen is now adjustable again
  • In Safari/Firefox still Google Maps is funny when I try to zoom in
  • As an extra issue my desktop screensaver (standard Apple screensaver) looks like a mess (see attached picture). I changed to a jpeg file from myself and this is normal. I found out that all .HEIC pictures look like this mess, all other formats look normal. With the first screen I did not have this problem.

What could possibly be wrong here? Before my screen change this was all normal, even after my screen went black this was all normal when connected to a beamer. Now if I connect to a beamer I have the same problem on the beamed image. So somehow I think this has to do with the screen change: is there a compatibility issue with the driver and the new screen?

Really appreciate your suggestions.
