Fix For USB Hub Not Working with Monterey 16.4

Hi,

I've been reading about the problems people have been having with their USB hubs since installing Monterey. I have the same issue with some of the ports on my j5 create hub. My monitor still works with the hub, but my printers and card reader do not unless I plug them directly into my MacBook Pro 2017. I just don't have enough ports on my MacBook for this to be useful. Is there a fix available for this? If I need to replace the hub, any suggestions on what will work? Thank you for your help.

If this is a Bus powered hub it may not provide enough power. I would suggest getting a powered hub. There are many available. Look at Amazon. I have a Bilken but OWC also makes some hubs. Here is one example but may be over kill for your use:

There is an Inland USB-A 3.2 4-port hub connected to my M2 Mac Mini Pro with Ventura 13.3.1 and a Startech USB-C 3.2 4-port hub connected to my 2020 iMac running Monterey 12.6.4. The Inland hub was used on my previous M1 Mac mini running Big Sur. Neither of these hubs have presented any form of connectivity issue with the Macs or operating systems mentioned. As the particular Inland hub is no longer made, I would replace it with a StarTech hub when it mattered.

Either of these hubs are bus powered although the Inland hub has an optional power plug available for it.

Thank you tbirdvet and Viking OSX. The j5create I have been using is not bus powered and plugs in with an adapter.
