Why do I keep getting countless notifications from 'aceonaillake.com' about the need to scan my new MacBook Pro. Is it a scam...? I can find absolutely no reference to the name 'aceonaillake.com' anywhere online? Many thanks in advance for any replies / advice.

Here is what a website push notification looks like:

Safari > Preferences > Notifications > {remove some, or all}

Safari > Preferences > Websites > Notifications > {remove some, or all}

If you are in the right place, there’s also a button that will permit or deny websites from asking to send notifications.

“Allow websites to ask permission to send push notifications” or some such. Turn that off.

The other way spammers send these is via a subscribed calendar. Websites offer that, as can mail messages, and clicking on the link and accepting the subscription gets the subscribed calendar added. You’ll find those subscribed calendars in your list of available calendars. Subscribed calendars are in a section of subscribed calendars, if there are any subscribed calendars. Remove any subscribed calendars you do not recognize.

Thank you Kurt, but having followed your guidance, I cannot see anything that appears to be 'dodgy' - certainly nothing visible that can be turned off (only the System Settings 'wheel' showing) - and there is no 'Pop-up Windows' heading in the lefthand list (on my 2019 MacBookPro) - there isn't even a 'Preferences' link in Safari!!

I am receiving lots of these scam notifications and 'know' there must be a way to prevent them appearing.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Chris

Yes, Kurt, they are popping up top right as Notifications - on the Home page, sometimes a whole list of them, which disappear when I log in with my password.

I HAVE managed to find the pop-up Windows tab in the left-hand list under Websites and the only item in the right hand box is a System Settings icon with a red dot top right in it. I have clicked 'DENY' on the right of the box and have not seen any notifications since, so hope this has solved the issue. Not sure if they'll be there when I restart but at least I know where to find controls now.

THANKS for your help with this - your advice certainly put me on the right track.
