I keep getting extra bard of looped recorded data when recording midi.
What is causing this? I only recorded what was in the circle?

Looks like you have set the default region parameters to loop "on"
To fix what you have, select the region and turn off loop in the Region Inspector
To stop it happening again, click in the background and uncheck Loop in the MIDI Defaults
