When changing your passcode (and you know the existing passcode), you'll want to follow the steps outlined at Change your Apple ID password - Apple Support. This lets you update your password.
Depending in the security type on your account, you may need to provide additional information such as verifying details or inputting a verification code to confirm your identity.
If you forgot your passcode, the follow the steps at If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
If you are unable to provide the required information in either event, then the only means to access and change your password would be through account recovery, which is detailed here: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support This is not available with all security types.
