Blocking a contact from calling me
I need explicit instructions regarding how to block a contact. Nothing I’ve read seems to work. Phone calls continue to come through. Voicemail as well.
iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 16

Note that this blocks the number, not the person. If they call from a different phone number it won’t know to block them.

If you tap the i next to a name in Recents and you get a blank screen there is a serious hardware or software problem with your phone. This is what you should see, with Block This Caller at the bottom and their phone number at the top:
When I followed your instructions and tapped the i, there was nothing to scroll to. Just an open area with no options or dialogue.
This person’s name comes up as No caller ID, but I know them, their phone number and have spoken with them.

Even if you block a person, they can still get to your voicemail. It re-directs them directly to the voicemail. To fully block a contact, you’ll need to contact your carrier.
Good point!
Hello K7. I experimented with two of my contacts. I was able to successfully block them from everything. No audible ring, no text, no voicemail. Maybe it’s a landline or carrier issue. I will contact the carrier tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
By the way, this person’s number is a landline. Should that matter? Also in their contact info on my phone it shows they are blocked. However, they are not.
Landline doesn’t matter. Go to Settings/Phone. Make sure Dial Assist is enabled.
Thanks Lawrence but Dial Assist is enabled. It’s possible that this person has an another line. I will wait for another call ( which I’m sure I’ll get this week) and figure it out). Thanks again.

No one is going to chat with you. You can continue to use this public forum to discuss any issues.
Thank you. I will test your suggestion by using another contact. I will block them and see if their voicemail goes thru.
Do they appear in your Recents? Blocking on the phone cannot prevent them from leaving voicemail if they wait for the prompt to leave a voicemail.
No scamming on forums. Or period.
