How do I completely block a phone number from calling and leaving voicemail on iPhone?

When a number is blocked, calls from that number still appear, and that number is able to leave voicemail. That is, by definition, not blocked.An advisor said that is (now) standard and designed performance. How can I block a number? I've submitted to my state and federal 'no call' lists, but they take a while.

On your iPhone when you block someone they cannot text or call you, but their voicemails will still go through. Try contacting your carrier and see if they can block that number from leaving voicemails.

In addition to Zachyy's excellent explanation, I would add that the voicemails will be sent to the Deleted Messages folder. You won't even be notified. You don't have to listen to them. Just open the folder and tap "Clear All."
