I sometimes use Markup to copy newspaper articles, which I then attach to emails. I’ve done this for years and it’s always worked well. Lately, however, if I put such an email into Drafts and then try to send it later I get a message saying the attachment failed to attach. Is there a way to overcome this little bug and return to the status quo ante?

If you haven’t tried, see if restarting your iPad allows the attachment to attach when sending: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
If it doesn’t, make sure your iPad is up to date. The latest iPadOS is 16.4.1. You can find which iPadOS your iPad is on by going to Settings > General > About. Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
If it still won’t attach, try removing and readding the email account in question: Add and remove email accounts on iPhone - Apple Support
Also, make sure that your Wi-Fi connection is strong. If you have another Wi-Fi network you can connect to, try that as well.
