In built speakers not appearing in Output.

I have recently updated my macbook pro 13’ 2017 model. It had no been updated in a while and i noticed after i updated it to OS monterey that the sound was not working.. but i figured that it probably just needed to be updated again to Ventura. So i completed the ventura update.. and unfortunately still no sound..

went to check that the in built speakers were selected.. and they don’t even show up in the output section.

Sound had been working perfectly fine until AFTER the update. I know the speakers are fine because it still makes clear sound when the laptop is turned on.

Any suggestions to help?
