Voice Message In Text

With this new update on iPhone, we have to hold the button to record a voice text and as soon as we release, the voice text message sends. A lot of times when I use this, the message does not record. I hold the button and the timer is going, but as soon as I release, nothing. I’ve had to re-record so many messages. I do not understand why this happens and it gives me no indication that it is not recording or a reason why it’s not recording. This is horribly frustrating. Anyone else having the same issues/have a solution?
