Voice to Text works intermittently since iOS 18.1 Update

I have an iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 18.1. I use voice-to-text on multiple messaging apps, including iMessage, Instagram, What's App and more. This feature will work for a couple of days. Then I notice that the microphone icon on the bottom right corner in iMessage will turn gray when you try to use it, and the feature won't work anymore. Also within iMessage, I can't do a voice recorded message within the text box. I have to reboot my phone to get the voice-to-text working.

The microphone itself still works on a phone call. And it also works with the Voice Memos app. It's only voice-to-text that will suddenly stop working for no reason. I've tried going into the Settings/Privacy area for the Microphone and turning individual apps on/off for microphone access, but it doesn't work. Only a full reboot works.

I talked to a few friends and they see this same problem. Anyone else? Any solutions?

I contacted Apple support. We tried a few things with no luck. Our last solution was to turn Siri Off and back on. After doing this, Siri could not hear me. So, I restarted the phone, and then turned Siri back on. That was two days ago, and so far the problem hasn't surfaced again. So, this might be the fix, until Apple does a proper patch. I will post again if the problem returns.
