Old MacBook Pro isn’t specific enough to help you. Depending on the model you may want to reset the PRAM and the SMC

SMC: press and hold the Shift, Option, and Control keys on the left side and press the power button and hold all of these until you see the powerchord light switch colors and return back. Do it a couple times.

PRAM: hold down Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding down those keys for about 20 seconds. Then let go and allow your Mac to continue starting normally.

then do an internet recovery

Option-Shift-Command-R: Start up from macOS Recovery over the internet. Use this key combination to reinstall the version of macOS that came with your Mac or the closest version that’s still available.

If you had firmware password then you should unlock that in terminal first. Also if you’re getting an error message and can’t login to Wi-Fi, you may have to plug in an Ethernet cable to do an internet recovery.

Hopefully doing these steps will enable your MacBook Pro to work. I’m assuming it’s intel based because the model and year aren’t listed. Hopefully it’s 2011 or later.
